Ashgate House offers the following accommodation: 44 bedrooms comprised of 41 single rooms (18 of which offer en-suite facilities) and 3 companion rooms. 24 bedrooms are situated on the ground floor with 19 bedrooms on first floor level. On admission all residents are offered a single room, at times and on request, some people may share a bedroom with another person. If this situation occurs the matter is discussed with families, and full circles of care, dignity and privacy is maintained by the use of privacy screens and where required Mental Capacity Assessments and Best Interest decisions will be undertaken.
People are encouraged to bring items from home to personalise their room. Furniture brought into the Home must comply with Fire Regulations and all electrical equipment (unless new) must be PAT tested prior to use and subsequently on an annual basis.
Individuals who are unable to activate the call system are provided with a pressure activated alarm mat, this is for safety reasons and will alert staff when people are unsettled at night and leave their beds. All service users receive hourly safety check when alone in their room.
In cases where equipment is required to support people and keep them safe/reduce risks of harm or injury then a capacity assessment is undertaken and a best interest decision is made.
